My Work Space... a tour!

Back in the day, one of my favorite things about blogging was taking pictures of my home!  I love to decorate and I enjoy photography, so naturally combining the two to show you all is a blast!

My oldest daughter, Alice, was snooping around this blog the other day and stumbled upon the "home tour" button.  She came to me and with an observation... "Mom, your blog is really out of date! You need to show some pictures of how our home actually looks now."   Yes, Alice...wise child... you are correct. :) So the most obvious place to start, for me, is my work space!  It's kind of home base for me during my days at home.  My work space is what technically should be the formal dining room, so it's very centrally located in our home.  I hang out there responding to emails,  keeping up with my Etsy stuff, designing and drawing, working on my planners, etc.  The bigger kids come to me for school work help or questions, the littles come begging for snacks or tattling on each other :)  But they always know the first place to look for mom is in her office/work space.

So without further delay... I present to you my happy place... my work space!

Hope you enjoyed it as much as I do!

Blessings,

HOME SWEET HOME TOUR... Spring Cleaning in the Office

A couple weeks ago, I took some time and did a little Spring cleaning in my office/work space... it felt so wonderful.  I organized pretty much every drawer, nook, and cranny.  This included cleaning out and my "decorative" cube shelves.  I wanted to display some of my favorite pretties and also make space for those crafting supplies that had gotten lost in some back drawers.  I figured if I could see some of those things I wanted to use, then maybe I'd actually remember to use them!  Genius, right? :)

I thought I'd show you the shelves... and a couple new things on the wall... Enjoy peaking into my office!  (if you'd like to see the rest of it... well at least what it looked like a year ago... click here!)

Scrap fabric... for projects like this, and this... oh, and this!

Vintage stationery... to use and for inspiration...

Paint chips and vintage map puzzle pieces... color inspiration.

Vintage books, magazines, cards to cut up or repurpose...  oh, the things I want to do with this pile!

Vintage catalogs... these are awesome!!  I've already used them for half a dozen projects...which I will share with you soon :)

These are a couple of my fav pages from those catalogs...
I mounted them on foam core with spray glue...

Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Blessings,

Honey... make me a chalkboard... please! and PINTEREST

A month or so ago, I told Jeremy about an idea I had for a chalkboard for the school room/my work area.  I went on elaborating about how I thought we should do it, what the top should look like, what I'd use it for... on and on, as I always do when describing ideas I have.  He liked the idea, but I didn't really expect him to think it was worth pushing to the top of the project priority list. To my amazement, only days later it was complete!  ... my dear sweet, hubby... thank you!

Our walls are textured, so we had a thin piece of wood cut to size from Lowes.  Then I drew the shape I wanted for the top and Jeremy cut it in the garage with our Dremel :)  He painted it with chalkboard paint,  and screwed it to the wall.  Ta-Da!  I love it.   I love the way it looks, and it's awesome for school.

You can't really tell from the pictures, but it's on the open end of our school room/ my work space,  in our kind of open hallway.  It perfect because it's very central in the house and it's also above tile... making for easy chalk dust clean up.

And one more thing...  Do you PINTEREST?  You probably already do, but in case you haven't discovered this LOVELY thing... check it out.  Its a place to "pin" fun things you find on the internet to save for future reference and inspiration!  Not to mention, you can look at other peoples "pins".   fun, fun, fun.  By the way... if you ever care to check out what I'm pinning these days... HERE ARE MY BOARDS :)

Blessings,

Happy Thing...My Creative Space

I wanted to share with you my office/creative space... In our last house, the office was part of our bedroom (see Our Little Home).  And as a result, I was quite confined by space and felt the need to make the office fit the decor of the bedroom.  I hid all my stationery, supplies, inspiration, and work away in drawers and under the bed!  It's been so nice, here, to have a separate room for my office.  Half of it is reserved for toys... but still, the decor is what ever my suits my fancy.  Any colors...anything goes!  I've been able to leave out all my junk... and enjoy it.  For me it's just a room full of Happy Things!!  Now I know, as far a creative spaces go, it's nothing to brag about.  For heaven's sake... have you seen some of the work spaces out there?!  Talk about having issues with coveting!! Someday..... (big sigh.)   But for now... I'm enjoying my space... it's definitely a Happy Thing :)
