Hello Friend
Last week I designed some baby shower invitations at the request of my sister-in-law. Her sister, is having a baby and she wanted something custom to match the nursery decor her sister had chosen.... I love this kind of custom order! I also love what developed from the request. In fact, I liked the design so much that I decided to make some stationery based on it! So here it is... it will be in my Etsy Store by tomorrow :)

Housewarming for Jenny
I've been a bad friend.
Several months ago, one of my best friends from high school told me that she was moving. And she wanted some suggestions for decorating and setting up home in her new location.... First of all it took me forever to reply! Then, I promised her I would send her a housewarming gift with a few things in it to help her get started. Yeah.... that was a long time ago. Well... this past weekend I put some stuff together. It hasn't quite made it to the post office yet, but hopefully it will get there soon :)
Anywho.....
I thought I'd share what I put in the package, with you.
AND... I wonder if you could help me... help her with something. Jenny, my friend, was looking for ideas for displaying photographs without having to buy frames.
I came up with three ideas :
-using the paper covered clothes pins to hang photos from twine, small rope, ribbon, etc...
-clipping a photo to the cover of an old book to display (as seen in pic. below)
-use a photo mat (in this case the fabric covered ones I included) and hang photo and mat together from clip on the wall.
Do you have any more ideas? Let me know and I'll pass them along!
I also made Jenny a couple custom scripture art prints for her home. I asked her what some of her favorite verses were and made them to suite the colors in her home.... I love the verses she chose. I rounded the corners on the prints so she wouldn't have to frame them. They also could be hung with clips or clothes pins, or even tacked on a bulletin board....

I have been so busy lately! It's just one thing after another.... and it seems to be never ending. In the past week or so it has been due to company, commitments, LOTS of graphic design projects, and home school preparations.
We started school yesterday... wow.
I had honestly forgotten the challenge of that over the summer.
It's not easy to focus on one child when you have 3. Especially when the youngest is LOUD, destructive, willful, and high-energy! .... I know the challenges compound when you have multiple children in school... but for me this is enough to figure out.
I've had a whole row of design projects to work on... etsy orders, baby shower invites, family requests, etc... I love it. I just wish I had more time for it! These days, it seems like design projects are the only thing I have to visually show you here. But I fear that gets old... pictures, stories, and crafts are more fun, in my opinion.
A few other random things I've wanted to tell you:
My mom, back in KS, falls asleep alot... anywhere, anytime. Earlier this summer when she was reading a bed time story to my girls, the story took an interesting turn. The familiar story of "The Lion King" turned into a slurred description about Mennonite martyrs. You should have seen the disapproving expression on Alice's face :)
My girls are funny... they love the word "mushy". It always makes them laugh. They'll spend 20 minuttes playing this game where one of them says "Mushy, mushy, mushy.....(something)" then they throw back their heads and laugh hysterically. They take turns picking words. I usually put an end to it when they start saying things like "Mushy, mushy, mushy.... Toilet!!!! Ah...ha, ha, ha, ha!!!" I'm always trying not to laugh too, though :) I remember doing stupid things like that as a kid.
Belly is growing... I'm starting to feel the baby move, Yay! We find out what it is in about 3 weeks.
I'm starting to brew on Christmas designs.... I love Christmas. I hope to have my etsy store full of fun Christmas goodies before Halloween hits. Ambitious I know. Hey, I can always set goals :)
Alice lost her two front teeth... I was so relieved. Right before they came out they were incredibly messed up! She looked like a hillbilly. Here's the before and after... except the before is still a week or so before they finally came out. They don't look near as bad as they did at the end :) Now I just keep looking at her and thinking how big she is. I don't know why missing front teeth create such a strong impression.... maybe it's that I remember losing my front teeth. She just can't be that big... :)

Sweet Faces... and the end of summer
Tonight we had a pool party with some young families from our church... it was wonderful to sit and chat, soak up the sun, and enjoy all the happy faces of children splashing in the pool. I'm addicted to close-ups of sweet little faces...especially their sparkly eyes :) Little faces say so much... soak in and enjoy the snap-shots of these precious kiddos...
... Tonight was just once example of the blessings we enjoy from being part of a church family. I would encourage you, if you don't already, to seek out a place to worship Christ and fellowship with other believers. The Christian life wasn't meant to be tackled alone! If you're ever in the Edmond, OK area... stop on by Memorial Road Mennonite Brethren Church. We're on the corner of Memorial and Coltrane.... I'll be there along with all these cute little faces and their parents!

Just lately, I designed two new nursery prints, a bird family and an owl family... these feature a little one's name and birth date (perfect for a shower gift :) ).
Also I've added 2 styles of personalized return address stickers... cute and funky pattern filled birds and also sweet love birds... AND... the love bird return address stickers have a matching personalized note card set available, too.
Doesn't somebody you know deserve a gift to say "I love you" ? ... well, I think so :)
And as always... let me know if I can design something for you personally! I always love a designing a good birth announcement, party invite, or whimsy business goodies :) ... among other things!

14 WEEKS
Okay, here's the first preggo pic for you... I was reluctant to post one already, lest you judge me :) Yeah, I've got a nice little bump already. BUT, it's number four, and I've always been quicker to show than many... So it is what it is!
